About Me

I am an art teacher, through and through. I can't imagine doing anything else and loving it more!

Throughout my 18 year career, I have taught elementary through high school grades at public and private schools. I love to help students see themselves as expressive, creative individuals. I believe a teacher that has worked with a variety of students is an asset to the school and the classroom. One of my strengths is differentiating instruction and encouraging all students to succeed.

In my classes, I provide students with choices in their projects, which leads to a high level of student engagement. I love working with themes and big ideas so that students see their work through a larger lens and can relate it to their other classes and life!

I understand the importance of teaching “real world” skills in the art room to prepare students for their future careers. Through teaching basic skills and encouraging every student to seek their own solutions to a variety of challenges, I believe every student can succeed in art and in life!

National Board Certification

I earned my National Board Certification in Art in 2009 and renewed in 2018, which has an ongoing positive effect on my teaching and on my students. Earning this certification encouraged me to focus my teaching on relating my classes to the core curriculum and career skills. I believe that this Certification shows that I am a reflective and creative educator that can demonstrate each student’s development in art.
